Summary of Responsibilities
Perform a wide variety of auditing functions on various types of engagements including non-profit, for profit and employee benefit plans, under the supervision of different Managers and Partners. Assist with other assurance services such as compilations and reviews as needed.
Essential Functions
- Provide timely, high quality client service
- Preparation of compiled, reviewed and audited financial statements
- Application of and reporting on agreed upon procedure engagements
- Perform all audit functions and tests as prescribed in applicable audit programs
- Identify accounting, compliance, and reporting issues
- Maintain a working knowledge of all current accounting and auditing standards utilizing various frameworks, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Preparation of spreadsheets as deemed necessary
- Perform other accounting and auditing duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by Managers and Partners
- Complete continuing education requirements
- Develop mutually beneficial long term client relationships
- Responsible for client communication
- Participate in client meetings and presentations
- Conduct staff training
- Supervise projects and assign work as necessary
- Assist with developing proposals
- Participate in the audit planning process
- Conduct research related to client work and internal projects
Other Functions
- Actively involved in community, volunteer and/or industry organizations, preferably in a leadership role
- Network with potential clients, particularly at industry events
- Promote CDS’s additional services
- Assist with firm initiatives
- Mentors staff
- Perform other duties as assigned by Managers and Partners
Working Conditions
- Overtime will be required
- Regular travel to client sites, meetings, and seminars will be necessary (limited overnight travel)
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- Accounting degree or educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam required, CPA preferred
- Experience in oversight of audit engagements including planning, budgeting, performing, supervision of staff, and wrap up
- Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards
- Strong prioritization and time management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients and other staff
- Must be confident and able to work with minimal supervision
- Flexible, team player
- Detail oriented
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word
- Working understanding of auditing standards specific to for profit, not-for-profit, and employee benefit plan audits

Summary of Responsibilities
Perform a wide variety of diversified accounting, tax and audit assignments under the supervision of different partners and senior accountants. Engage in all areas of the firm’s tax, consulting and audit practice. Work closely with Partner-in-Charge on engagements.
Essential Functions
- Record transactions in ledgers; prepare trial balances and simple financial statements using computer software.
- Reconcile accounts to control accounts.
- Perform scheduled computations of accruals, property and equipment, and calculate depreciation expense.
- Prepare business and personal income tax returns, including appointments with clients.
- Assist in proofing financial statements, tax returns and other documents.
- Assist with responses to various taxing agencies.
- Perform QuickBooks Consulting and maintain proficiency with software.
- Prepare, or direct preparation of, complete financial statements and related reports for clients, including reviews and compilations.
- Perform other accounting and tax duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by Partners.
- Prepare payroll and sales tax returns.
- Perform all audit functions and tests as prescribed in applicable audit programs.
- Delegate specific audit programs and duties, providing training to junior staff members, review workpapers, financial statements and reports prior to final review.
- Prepare proposals and responses to bid requests for prospective audit clients as well as fee quotations for tax, payroll and accounting services.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all current auditing laws, statutes, etc.
- Provide insight and feedback to Partner-In-Charge of audit engagement.
- Prepare, or direct preparation of, complete financial statements and related reports for audit clients.
- Provide training to Staff Accountants as necessary.
Other Functions
- Participate in community and volunteer organizations
- Perform other duties as assigned by Partners
- Network with local business owners and managers to promote CDS.
Working Conditions

Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- Three or more years of accounting experience required.
- Accounting degree required.
- CPA designation, or desire to obtain the CPA designation, preferred.
- Well-rounded knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and personal income tax.
- Experienced in QuickBooks preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients and other staff.
- Flexible, team player.
