Thinking of having your audit done remotely? Here are some tips for a successful (remote) audit:
- Maintain strong cybersecurity.
- Appoint an on-site facilitator to effectively and efficiently manage audit logistics and technology-related problems, if possible.
- Clear your schedule during the week of the audit fieldwork – just like you would if the auditors were on-site. Some meetings might be unavoidable – make sure to update the audit team of any changes to your availability.
- Provide reports for sample selection early on (ex. subsequent receipts, subsequent disbursements, bank statements and reconciliations) to allow more time for scanning/uploading invoices and other supporting documentation requests.
- Schedule regular check-in times with auditors to evaluate progress, resolve any issues, and streamline communication.
- Communication may look a little different but is still just as important!
