Bookkeeper

Summary of Responsibilities

Performs varying bookkeeping functions for a variety of external clients; utilizes computerized accounting system and software; keeps financial records. Primary responsibilities include accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and other finance-related duties.

Essential Functions
  • Verifies and enters details of transactions
  • Prepares financial statements accurately and timely
  • Prepares schedules and reports as requested
  • Prepares bank reconciliations
  • Accounts payable and receivable as needed
  • Meets one on one with clients to provide QuickBooks training
  • Communicates effectively with clients and CDS staff
  • Maintaining records according to generally accepted accounting principles including the recordation of general journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and reconciliation of bank statements
  • Applying strong accounting skills, including A/P, A/R, journal entries, and all bookkeeping through financial statement preparation
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
  • Seasonal overtime will be requested, particularly during year-end payroll reporting season (Mid-December through January)
  • Travel to client sites, meetings, and seminars will be necessary from time to time
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
  • AA degree or related experience
  • QuickBooks or other computerized accounting system experience preferred (including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reports)
  • Willingness to become a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients and staff
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to organize and prioritize effectively
  • Attention to detail with exceptional level of accuracy
  • Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures
  • Excellent communication skills, friendly, and detail oriented
  • Flexible, team player, ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
