Interview with Staff Accountant Brooklyn Mueske

Q: Tell us about your family.

A: I grew up in Willmar with two older brothers and a younger sister. I moved to Marshall, MN for school and recently moved back to Willmar with my fiancé. It is nice to be back around my family.

Q: What inspired your career path?

A: My path to accounting was unexpected. I began college as a science major, but quickly realized it wasn’t the right fit. Unsure about my direction, I switched to undeclared and took general courses while exploring my options. With the help of my college’s career services—including assessments and advising—I discovered an interest in finance. After attending my first principles of accounting class, I immediately knew accounting was the right choice for me.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

A: In my spare time I like to spend time with family and friends, do one of my many hobbies, or chill on the couch and watch a movie. In the summer, I like to go to my parent’s cabin and spend time on the lake, go fishing, and just be outside.

Q: Why CDS?

A: The perks and flexibility at CDS initially caught my attention and continued to stand out as I considered other firms. The firm’s core values and culture truly aligned with my own. Everyone I interacted with during the interview process was welcoming and professional.

When I mentioned CDS to others, I consistently heard positive feedback, even from people outside the area. My research confirmed CDS’s strong connection to the Willmar community through its services, employee volunteerism, and broad involvement. It’s clear people enjoy working here, and that enthusiasm is evident.
