Interview with Marketing Coordinator, Karina DeJong

Q: How has marketing changed during your career?

A: A lot of retro marketing practices are coming back. People like the personal touches and when you personally connect.

Q: Tell us about your family.

A: I grew up in the Willmar area. My father, Kraig, works for Big Iron Auctions and my mother, Becky, works for MACCRAY Public Schools. I have one sister, Kiesha, who is married and has my first niece named Blair. She works for RDO. I have two brothers. My brother, Andrew, is engaged and works for Case IH International. My youngest brother, Adam, works for Fargo Framing.

Q: Do you have any hobbies?

A: I am an entrepreneur! I have a small bakery business that I do on the side!

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

A: I am a huge lake girl. If I could be on the pontoon every day, I would. In my free time I like to spend time with my family, friends and my 15-pound cavapoo, Bennie!

Q: Any interesting facts about yourself that most people may not know?

A: I am a coffee-ohlic. I have a coffee tattoo. People say I have a stomach of steel because I usually have a minimum of six shots of espresso a day. I love to support all the local coffee shops and never say no to going for a coffee date!

Q: How do you stay up-to-date on marketing changes and trends?

A: I like reading blog posts and looking at other local businesses’ marketing platforms including social media, websites and other materials I have access to.
